Nutrients are the compounds in our food which are essential to life and good health. Providing us with energy and the building blocks for repairing and growth in our bodies. There are two types of nutrients: Macro and Micro nutrients.

Macronutrients:

Macronutrients consist of proteins, fats, water, fiber, carbohydrates, etc. Our body requires these elements in larger quantities (grams). Macronutrients are the providers of energy, and maintain body functions, and carry out activities of daily life. Macronutrients are acquired from our daily staple diet such as Grains, milk etc.

Micronutrients:

Micronutrients are one of the most important groups of nutrients our body needs. They consist of vitamins, minerals, and trace metals. Vitamins are important for energy production, immune function, blood clotting and other functions. Minerals play an important role in growth, bone health, fluid balance and several other processes. Micronutrients are largely acquired from fruits and vegetables.
